Armband was created to solve a simple problem: how do you check your
progress while running when your phone is strapped to your arm?
Why Armband exists
Built around listening, not looking.
Armband began more than ten years ago, before I owned a running watch and before connected fitness services became part of every run. My iPhone was how I recorded my route, but checking a screen while moving was awkward and distracting.
The valuable part was not simply recording the run. It was hearing useful information at the right moment. Spoken announcements let me understand how I was doing without breaking stride, while a quick tap created a checkpoint and immediately read out my progress.
Armband has now been rebuilt for modern iPhones, but that original purpose remains. It is for runners who value clear spoken feedback, minimal interaction and the freedom to keep control of their own running data.

Armband Privacy Policy
Effective date: 21 July 2026
Armband is a running application developed by Nuifish. It is designed to record runs without requiring an account or sending your running history to Nuifish.
Information Armband Uses
When you start a run, Armband uses your device’s location to calculate and record:
- Your route and geographic coordinates
- Distance travelled
- Run duration and pace
- Checkpoints and distance milestones
Background location access allows Armband to continue recording an active run when the screen is locked or the application is running in the background.
How Your Information Is Stored
Your settings and recorded runs are stored locally within Armband’s storage on your device.
Nuifish does not operate a server that receives your location, running history or settings. Armband does not require an account and does not include advertising or third-party analytics.
Your device’s operating system backup facilities may include Armband’s locally stored information, depending on your Apple backup settings.
Maps
Armband uses Apple’s MapKit services to display maps and recorded routes. Apple may process information necessary to provide its mapping services in accordance with Apple’s Privacy Policy .
Spoken Feedback
Armband uses Apple’s built-in speech and audio services to provide spoken information during an active run. Nuifish does not receive recordings or transcripts through this feature.
Sharing and Exporting Runs
You may choose to export an individual run in GPX or CSV format. Exported files can contain precise location coordinates, timestamps, checkpoints and other run information.
Exports are initiated by you and are sent only to the application, person or storage location you choose using the iOS Share Sheet. Once exported, the receiving application or service controls and protects that copy according to its own privacy practices.
Some exported CSV files contain Google Street View links generated from recorded coordinates. Armband does not automatically send those coordinates to Google. If you choose to open one of these links, Google will receive the information necessary to provide the requested page in accordance with Google’s Privacy Policy .
Retention and Deletion
Recorded runs remain on your device until Armband’s local data is removed. The current version does not provide individual run deletion.
Deleting Armband from your device removes its locally stored application data. Copies that you previously exported or that are retained in a device backup must be managed through the application, service or backup system where they are stored.
Children
Armband is not directed specifically at children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to This Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated if Armband’s functionality or data practices change. The revised version will be published on this page with an updated effective date.
